2017 Garnacha Blanca
2017 Garnacha Blanca
SOLD OUT
Our first year working with Garnacha Blanca, and also our first “orange wine.” We were inspired by La Foradada, a wonderful Garnacha Blanca from Terra Alta in Spain, and recognized a kinship with our soils and climate, which is why we chose to work with this variety. Own-rooted vines planted in gravel in the heart of Santa Ynez Valley, near the town of Los Olivos, made for a wine with incredible texture and phenolic presence. Fermented on the skins to dryness in stainless steel, then pressed to neutral barrels and aged for a year, this wine was racked just once for bottling, and bottled without fining or filtration. We produced just 3 barrels (65 cases total). No additions other than a 10 ppm SO2 addition at bottling. We are incredibly happy with the results- there’s an orange liqueur quality to the aromatics joined to an almost saline presence, while the palate has a phenolic crunch and grippy, stony texture.
