2020 is the first year that we’ve worked with Garnacha. In recent years, we’ve been inspired by the grape’s expressions from the Sierra de Gredos, which marry graceful aromatics to powerful, mineral texture and structure. In our approach to Garnacha, we aim for the same. Harvested from a steep hillside block full of rocky shale in the biodynamic Demetria vineyard, we chose to ferment this 100% whole cluster to highlight these intense soils and emphasize a sense of tension on the palate. The aromatics are full of exotic spices, rose petals, and red fruit. The fusion of these perfumed aromatics with its stern texture makes for a compelling and distinctive expression of Grenache, and it is one of our favorites wines we’ve ever produced. 15ppm S02 solely at bottling, unfined/unfiltered, 8 months in neutral wood on undisturbed lees. Hand bottled by gravity.
